The Girardian Lectionary Study (GLS) discusses the lectionary readings each week for the following Sunday led by Paul Nuechterlein (and occasional friends). In my 30-year career as a parish pastor I always valued time with colleagues for a weekly "Pericopes Study." It seemed to grow more difficult to do in recent years and became impossible during the pandemic of 2020. This study offers the opportunity to virtually gather with colleagues from the comfort and convenience of your home or office, for roughly the cost of the premium coffee you might order with your local group — and all from the fruitful perspective of the anthropology of René Girard (see "Girardian Reflections on the Lectionary"). Central features of this study are:
- A PowerPoint presentation on the readings from a Girardian perspective for twenty minutes (available in .pdf format after the meeting)
- Forty minutes of conversation among the participants — an opportunity to raise questions, share sermon ideas, etc.
- Recorded meetings available to all subscribers (for one week due to storage limitations) — especially for those not able to make the Zoom meeting
- Two different days to fit busy schedules (Zoom invitations for both days sent weekly to all subscribers)
The options for subscriptions are $6.00 for a single session (use the "Pay Now" button below); or $22.00/month (which is $5.08/week). The monthly subscription renews automatically each month with PayPal; but participants may unsubscribe (using the button below) at any time and will receive a pro-rated refund if appropriate.
